Crowd-funding has been a hot topic on the web over the past few months. In WordPress circles, this has been no different. Today, we’re proud to announce an exciting collaboration between two WordPress players, which we hope will help you all to create beautiful crowd-funding websites and to help the greater good.

Our For The Cause theme now integrates seamlessly with IgnitionDeck.

A little bit about IgnitionDeck

IgnitionDeck is a popular crowd-funding platform for WordPress. The product enables WordPress users to quickly and easily set up a crowd-funding engine on their website, to receive funds towards their cause or endeavour.

A little bit about For The Cause

A WordPress theme designed for non-profits and charitable organisations, For The Cause offers a clean and presentable canvas for showcasing your project’s efforts, press information to help visitors to learn more about your offering and an attractive progress bar for sharing how much money you have raised towards meeting your goal.

When two paths meet

While IgnitionDeck and For The Cause have the same goals, we have been treading on parallel paths. The aim of this integration is to create synergy between these two exciting products, while increasing each product’s benefit to you, when both are used.

Crowd-funding, and community involvement, is something which is near and dear to WooThemes. This is a space we’ve wanted to delve into for some time.

We found IgnitionDeck’s offering and are impressed with what they offer customers in this space, so an integration between WooThemes and IgnitionDeck is the next logical step for us, in this area.

After months of discussion, feedback and coding, the two paths have met and a seamless integration has emerged. Your IgnitionDeck projects display elegantly within your For The Cause-themed website, with additional tools for displaying your IgnitionDeck project’s progress, right on your homepage.

Inspiring change

In order to help the world to inspire change, our mission and vision is to remove barriers and hurdles in order to help others to inspire change in the world.

Our collaboration with IgnitionDeck removes a hurdle in getting your crowd-funding website online for your non-profit organisation or your cause, by creating an elegant design which fits seamlessly on top of the IgnitionDeck plugin, and the WooFramework.

With a point-and-click integration such as this, setting up a website to help your non-profit receive donations for projects is a few short clicks away.

To help you to inspire change in the world, we’ve made two coupon codes available for a limited time.

What would be the best way if I wanted to run a single crowd sourced campaign of my own on my woocommerce site that uses canvas?

IgnitionDeck looks like it has a plugin, though there seems to only be demos of it using their own themes? I can’t see any documentation about setting it up on other themes, what’s required etc. Would be nice to see it on the default wordpress themes perhaps.

      Hey Jon,

Don’t tell anyone yet, but we have some big plans as it relates to WooCommerce and IgnitionDeck.

In the meantime, I have two suggestions for you:

      1. Buy a copy of For the Cause if you don’t own it already and then tell everyone you know about it and have them grab a copy too.

      2. We don’t really publish this yet because it’s not an official version and we’re going to be making some changes to the distribution model, but we have currently offer a lite version of IgnitionDeck that you can use to test on your theme: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ignitiondeck/

It requires a license key to unlock most of the advanced features, but it should give you a taste of what it could look like on your site.

Our thanks to Matty and team for such a great co-venture and writeup. It’s great working with such consummate professionals, and we’re looking forward to helping Woo customers achieve crowdfunding success!

Thanks for all that, I had just sent you a long email with a load of further questions. Sounds like you’ve got things in the pipeline that will satisfy what I’m potentially after.

    Hi Guys

Quick question….does this mean if you’re partnered with Woo Commerce that payment gateways can easily integrate with Paypal? i.e. my website payments pro so it can all happen within the site?

(ID at this stage does not integrate so users have to go out of the site to Paypal)

    Keen to hear your feedback.

If IgnitionDeck integrates with WooCommerce natively then there shouldn’t be any reason that you can’t use any payment gateway you like 🙂

Great news! IgnitionDeck is a great tool to start crowdfunding without using kickstarter or indiegogo.

Does this mean that WooCommerce will work with Paypal Standard?

No. This is an integration between ForTheCause and IgnitionDeck. So all the ignition deck pages / templates are styled to match the theme.

I believe there are some plans to integrate IgnitionDeck with WooCommerce as virtuousgiant alluded to earlier.

When will WooCommerce work with PayPal Standard?

Hi Konnie, PayPal standard works with WooCommerce, in fact it comes bundled with WooCommerce when you download it. You just need to set it up under WooCommerce -> Checkout -> PayPal to link it to your account.

Sorry, I think I replied to the wrong comment in that reply 🙂 As Gerhard says, WooCommerce works with PayPal standard out of the box.

How Many Sites Can I Install IgnitionDeck On?
You can install IgnitionDeck and IgnitionDeck + Membership on as many of your own sites as you wish. IgnitionDeck Enterprise and work for hire projects require one license per site.

Does this mean I can sell sites? Or does it just mean I can use it on my products.

I can not find any decent demo on that page. I do lots of fundraising so it will be good if it worked

I can’t speak for WooThemes as it relates to their theme licensing, but if you use IgnitionDeck for your own projects, you can use the ID or IDM packages on as many sites as you wish. IDE is limited to a single site.

If you use for a client project, you can sell your site/license to the client or ask them to purchase a copy of IgnitionDeck for use with the project.

If you’re in the site selling business, then you’ll simply transfer your ID license with the site, in which case you’ll need to purchase a new license for your own use.

We’re working on developer licenses to better handle some edge cases.
