You can confirm your theme and WooFramework version by going to: Inspire > Framework

After you install your theme, be sure to activate your theme key by downloading and installing the WooCommerce Helper plugin. This will verify your site when contacting support and will enable 2-click updates for quick theme upgrades down the road.

Updating your theme

It is very important to ensure you have the latest version of your theme at all times. This is the best way to proactively troubleshoot issues on your site.

After installing and activating the theme, you need to navigate to Settings > Permalinks and click on the “Save Changes” button, even if you haven’t made any changes. This is to register the custom post types used in the theme.

You also need to navigate to Settings > Reading and set front page to display “Your latest posts” if you have previously had a static page as your front page.

The homepage consists of a featured area, mini-features area, home sidebar and a widgetized footer.

The Inspire home page featured area pulls the custom “slides” post type. The number of slides depends on how many slides you have published. You can set the animation speed, auto start and slide interval under the Settings, the rest of the slide functionality is added via the slides panel documented below.

Adding a slide

To add a slide simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to Slides > Add New.
  2. Type a title for the slide and complete all of the post’s body content.
  3. Add a “Slider Image” in the Inspire Settings panel if you want to display an image in the slide.
  4. Publish the slide.

Add buttons to featured page

To add a button to a page in the featured area, you need to add some html code by using the HTML tab. Simply add a link with the class btn and wrap the text in a span:

Add video to featured page

Adding video is just as simple as adding an image to the page. Simply use the Embed field in the Custom Settings panel, and add your embed code.

The main area consists of a left column that can hold mini-features, and a right column that holds the home widgetized sidebar. The left main column can also hold page content above or below the mini-features area.

The Inspire home page mini features area also uses custom post types and pulls in the  the custom “Mini Features”. The number of mini features depends on how many “Mini Features” you have published. You can enable the mini features area on the home page under Inspire > Settings > Homepage. You can also add two pieces of content from WordPress pages to the home page if you specify the page IDs of the pages you wish to display.

To add an info box simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to Mini Features > Add New.
  2. Type a title for the Mini Features and complete all of the post’s body content.
  3. Add a “Mini Features Icon” in the Inspire Settings panel if you want to display an icon next to the slide.
  4. Add an excerpt
  5. Publish the mini feature.

To enable the mini features area go to Inspire > Settings > Homepage.

To add a Blog to the main navigation, simply follow these steps:

  1. To add a new Page in WordPress go to: Page > Add New
  2. Add a title to the page e.g. “Blog”
  3. Select the Blog page template in the Attributes panel on the right
  4. Publish your page!

This theme includes a portfolio template which can showcase your work or products. To add the portfolio you need to follow these steps:

  1. To add a new Page in WordPress go to: Page > Add New
  2. Add a title to the page e.g. “Portfolio”
  3. Select the Portfolio page template in the Attributes panel on the right
  4. Publish your page!

The portfolio section also uses a custom post type called “Portfolio”.

  1. To add a new portfolio item in WordPress go to: Portfolio > Add New
  2. Add a title to the portfolio item
  3. Add a tag to the post if you wish to categorize your portfolio (e.g. “Web” or “Print”)
  4. Add some text in the content to describe the portfolio item
  5. Upload the Portfolio Thumbnail (450x210px) image in the Inspire Settings panel
  6. Publish the portfolio item and repeat for next portfolio item

Remember you must have uploaded a “Portfolio Large” image for image attachments to work.

Upload multiple images per portfolio item

To have multiple images under the portfolio item, enter the rest of the images by uploading image attachments to the Portfolio Item and click Save Changes.

  1. Go to: Inspire > Settings > Portfolio.
  2. Select “Use Lightbox” if you wish the large images to open as a pop-up when clicked on, not a link that takes you to a new window.
  3. Select “Use Dynamic Image Resizer” so that the portfolio images are resized correctly on the portfolio page.
  4. If you added any tags to your posts, then add these tags to “Portfolio Tags” field (e.g. “web, print”)
  5. Save settings and you’re done!
