Coupons for Subscriptions with a Free Trial

If a subscription has a free trial, you cannot apply a product discount. We use the 3rd party subscription sync plugin to make all subscriptions bill on the 1st of the month (which really should be native functionality). To make that work it adds a free trial equal to the number of days left in the month. But because of this, we cannot offer incentive discounts off the first month, which is a major limitation. Please implement this asap.

So this was marked as completed — but applying a recurring % (for first payment) coupon still doesn’t work if the product has a free trial. What gives?

  2. Nick says:

Hi Marcy, if you create a recurring coupon, “limited for 1 payment”, it will automatically apply to the first payment, even if the first order is $0.

Now this is possible with my brand new plugin called “Free trial coupon for woocommerce subsccriptions”

You can download the plugin from wordpress.org

    PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

  5. Reynold S. says:

We can use the “Active for x payments” option on the coupon settings for products with MONTHLY billing interval.

However, it is not applicable for products/variants that are billed ANNUALLY if you want to only extend their trial for like few months.

Throwing another vote in for this one. We want to convert people from non-subscriptions to subscriptions by offering a month free. But I don’t see a way to do that.

FWIW, this seems like it might be related to http://ideas.woocommerce.com/forums/133476-woocommerce/suggestions/13472877-subscription-coupons-defining-the-number-cycles

Perhaps they can both be solved at the same time.

It would be enough for me to just be able to disable the free trial if using a coupon. That way it’s just a tick box, the free trial isn’t applied so the coupon is able to apply itself to the cart.

  9. Jonas Skafte says:

This would also be VERY useful for synchronized payments where there’s no initial payment! Here’s my suggestion where that’s also included:

    http://ideas.woothemes.com/forums/133476-woocommerce/suggestions/13379259-coupons-for-specific-payments-2nd-3rd-4th-and-s

I found this suggestion after I had posted my own, but I’ve also put my votes here.

    Would also love this feature.
Currently searching everywhere for a similar alternative.

    Need this right away!

  12. Elliot says:

    Any luck with this?

  13. Dan Baritchi says:

Hey guys! any update on this?

I’m trying to roll out a coupon, but cannot because our subscriptions have a free trial.

The coupon is already set to “Product %” discount, so not understanding why having a free trial is a problem… the coupon should just apply to the first amount paid, regardless of whether there is a free trial.

    Please help! 🙂

    Thanks!

I’d love to see this. I want to be able to offer a free trial through a coupon. Example: use coupon and get 30 days free then subscription automatically starts billing
