WooPayments is the payment solution built by Woo and fully integrated with WooCommerce. It lets you accept major credit cards, debit cards, and local payment methods directly on your store, and you manage payments, refunds, disputes, and payouts from your WordPress dashboard without logging into a separate third-party platform. It is the only payment method designed exclusively for WooCommerce, and it is built in partnership with Stripe, which powers the underlying payment processing.
No. WooPayments is free to install with no setup costs and no monthly fees. It uses pay-as-you-go pricing, so you pay per-transaction fees rather than a recurring subscription. You can review the current rates on the official fees page before you start.
Yes. WooPayments brings your store's transactions into a single integrated dashboard inside WordPress admin. You can collect payments, process full or partial refunds, track cash flow, respond to disputes and chargebacks, and monitor payouts without switching to a separate payment processor site.
Yes. WooPayments is available in 38 countries and can accept payments in 135+ currencies, with multi-currency support built in and no extra extensions needed. Shoppers can see prices and pay in their preferred currency, which removes the need for them to check conversion rates at checkout. You can offer local payment methods such as iDEAL, P24, EPS, and Bancontact to meet buyers where they are.
WooPayments has several express checkout methods built in: WooPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, and Link by Stripe. Offering these can speed up checkout and help reduce abandoned carts, since customers can complete a purchase with fewer steps. Note that WooPay and Link by Stripe cannot both be enabled at the same time.
Yes. WooPayments includes buy now, pay later (BNPL) methods such as Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm, which you can enable from your dashboard where available. Offering BNPL gives shoppers more flexible payment options and buying power, which can help increase average order value and convert more sales. Availability varies by region.
Yes. WooPayments extends to in-person selling through the same system you use online. You can accept physical payments and track store revenue using the Woo Mobile App with a supported card reader, or use Tap to Pay for contactless payments without extra hardware. If you sell both online and in person, this keeps all of your revenue in one connected system. Learn more about in-person payments.
Yes. WooPayments works with WooCommerce Subscriptions to support recurring payments for memberships, installments, and repeat orders. You can view renewal and cancellation data, date changes, and payment methods from the integrated dashboard, which simplifies managing recurring revenue.
WooPayments includes integrated fraud protection that detects suspect transactions using Stripe Radar, along with customizable rules you can configure to block suspicious orders before they are placed. It is also 3DS/SCA compatible, so it can authenticate 3D Secure cards at checkout to help reduce fraud. Most stores can start with the Basic risk level and adjust as needed.
Yes. WooPayments is PCI compliant, and payment data is securely tokenized and never stored on your site. Card details are held on secure servers through the Stripe partnership, and customers can save their cards for faster future checkouts using that secure tokenization.
Yes. You can set a custom payout schedule that pays earnings into your linked bank account or debit card daily, weekly, or monthly, based on what works for your business. Note that during the initial 7-day waiting period after your first transaction, the payout schedule cannot be changed yet.
Yes, if you are eligible. The Instant Payouts feature lets eligible merchants transfer their pending balance to a debit card within minutes, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for a fee of 1.5% of the payout amount and without affecting the regular payout schedule. Instant Payouts is only available in the US.
Yes, a few requirements apply. Your business needs to be based in a supported country, your site needs an SSL certificate and must be accessible over HTTPS, and WooPayments requires connecting to a WordPress.com account so that requests from your site are securely attributed to your store. During signup you will also provide business and identity details as part of standard "know your customer" verification with Stripe.
Yes. WooPayments comes with priority access to WooCommerce support, so your requests go to the front of the line. You can submit a ticket or chat with the team for help with WooPayments or WooCommerce in general.
When a customer disputes a charge, WooPayments notifies you by email, on the order page, and in the Payments menu, and the disputed amount plus a dispute fee are withdrawn from your account immediately. You can review the dispute reason and challenge it by submitting evidence from the integrated dashboard within the response window. Keep in mind the dispute outcome is decided solely by the customer's bank, and the only way to recover the amount and fee is to challenge and win.
WooPayments is a strong fit for WooCommerce store owners who want one native, fully integrated way to accept online and in-person payments and manage everything from their store dashboard. It suits merchants who want to start without setup or monthly fees, offer a range of payment methods including cards, wallets, and BNPL, and sell across multiple currencies and countries.
WooPayments may not be a fit if your business is not based in one of the supported countries, since it will not be available to set up in that case. It also cannot be used for certain restricted or prohibited business types and products, so it is worth checking the prohibited and restricted products list if you are unsure your store qualifies.
