Currently, WooCommerce’s customer management feels very limited compared to other e-commerce platforms. Store owners need more powerful tools to manage and understand their customers.
Suggested improvements:
Enhanced Customer Overview
– Central dashboard with a clear overview of all customers.
– Search and filter options (by last order date, lifetime value, location, tags, etc.).
Customer Segmentation & Tagging
– Ability to create categories or apply custom tags/labels to customers.
– Use tags for marketing campaigns, loyalty programs, or custom communication.
Detailed Customer Profile Page
Single customer view showing:
– Contact details and addresses
– Order history and status overview
– Total spend / lifetime value
– Average order value and frequency
– Custom notes from the store admin
– Assigned discounts or custom terms (e.g. fixed percentage discount, wholesale terms)
Integration & Export
– Easy export/import of customer segments (for newsletters, CRMs, or accounting tools).
– Hooks/REST API endpoints to allow developers to extend customer data.
Optional Extensions
– Built-in loyalty program options (points, rewards, etc.).
– Better analytics on customer cohorts and retention.
Why this matters:
A stronger customer management system would help shop owners build relationships, run targeted campaigns, and increase customer lifetime value without having to rely on a patchwork of third-party plugins.
