Coming Soon mode blocks access to your store from the shop pages but anyone can still use the store API to garner information on products and put through orders.
This means you cannot use Coming Soon to “close” your store while you take measures against hackers using the API to test solen cards or similar.
You also have no protection against third parties getting full information on the products in your shop ahead of its launch.
My suggestion would be to have it as a yes/no option (yes by default) as some installations may have a valid reason for keeping the API available.
