Order status based on payment gateway and Delivery method

HI, it would be great to have possibilty to mark order based on Payment gateway, for example cash on Delivery need to have different status for pairing with shipping company, so the invoice can be issued after the delivery..

For that i would need to know and mark the order with special status..

That would be great function to implement!
Do you have any plans to do that or i should look for some other plugin?
