WooCommerce tracks stock for each product or variation separately. So when multiple products use the same item, such as a ribbon with medals, their stock counts don’t automatically stay in sync. That can leave you selling stock you don’t actually have.
Shared Attribute Stock for WooCommerce lets you connect products and attributes to shared inventory pools. When one product sells, the shared stock updates everywhere that item is used, helping you prevent overselling and keep inventory accurate.
For example: A medal shop sells several medal designs. Each design comes in bronze, silver, or gold, and can be paired with a red, blue, or green ribbon. Because the same ribbons are used across all the medal designs, you can create a shared stock pool for each ribbon color and link it to the matching ribbon option on every product. Sell a medal with a red ribbon, and the available red ribbon stock is updated across all the designs.

You can manage shared variations and attributes stock in 4 ways depending on your store requirements:
Create shared inventory groups with custom stock quantities, low-stock alerts, and quantity multipliers. Set up rules to share inventory across multiple products, categories, or attribute combinations.
Example: You sell Colombian coffee as whole beans, espresso grind, and French press grind, each available in 250g, 500g, and 1kg packs. All products draw from the same 50kg coffee stock. Group different variations of a product to share the same stock instead of tracking inventory separately for each variation.
Example: You sell 1kg bags of Basmati Rice with standard, premium, and gift packaging options. All three variations use the same stock of 500 rice bags. Whenever a customer buys any of these options, the shared stock decreases by one. View feature in detail
Set stock quantities for individual attributes or attribute terms and share that inventory across products using them. Stock is automatically updated whenever a matching variation is sold.
Example: You sell different watch models with interchangeable black, brown, and blue straps. Instead of tracking strap inventory for every watch separately, you can set stock for each strap color once. Manage shared variation stock from a single inventory table. Set quantities, add deduction multipliers, and choose which products should share the same stock.
Example: You sell Large Blue T-shirts with three different printed designs, but only have 21 blank Large Blue T-shirts in stock. Using the inventory table, you can link all three products to the same stock. Every time a customer orders one of these designs, the shared quantity is updated automatically. View feature in detail
For example, you sell roasted coffee beans. You buy the stock in kilograms, but customers buy it in 50g, 100g, and 250g packs. All the packs come from the same 50kg stock. If you track each roast package as a separate product, you could oversell the beans several times. The rule creation solves this issue.
While creating a new rule, you can customize the following options:
You can add SKUs, stock quantities, low stock thresholds, and rule notes for internal reference. If you have added multiple attribute groups, you can reduce all their stock at the same time.
Under the match rule section, you can add multiple groups, and each group can have multiple sets of attributes. For example, you can add 250g as a package size attribute and roasted as a type attribute
While adding the attribute groups, you can add stock multipliers if you wish to reduce the stock in multiples of “X” when a new order is placed. For example, as mentioned earlier, we have 50kgs of roasted coffee beans shared amongst different package sizes; for the 250g pack, we will set the stock multiplier to 0.25 for accurate deductions. Every time the customer buys a 250g pack 0.25 quantity will be deducted from the shared pool of 50KGs.
Admins can choose to add an attribute stock rule to specific products, categories, and tags. The attribute stock will apply to these selected product(s) only, and the other products having the same attributes will be tracked with standard inventory practices. For example, you can select three products: Roasted Coffee Beans, Espresso Beans, House Blend Coffee Beans. Now, all three of them will use the same 50kg stock.
To manage your attribute stock in bulk, you can use export and import attribute stock rules. You can make edits in a CSV file to perform bulk changes and implement them at once via CSV import.
Do you have a group of variations that share the same inventory? With this extension, you can combine multiple attributes and give them one shared stock quantity. Instead of each variation having its own stock, all of them use the same inventory. For example, you sell gold, silver, and bronze medals, and each one of them uses the same 2 ribbon colors: green and blue. You have only 45 green and 87 blue ribbons in stock. So you can group them together to tie the ribbon quantity to medals.
With this extension, you can check a stock management checkbox at the attribute level to manage its stock. The extension will automatically share the attribute stock across different products. The stock will be reduced at the attribute level when a new order is placed. The admin should be able to restock it when new inventory arrives. For example, we have added 100 stock quantity to the Shirt’s large size attribute. Now every time a large shirt is ordered, the stock decreases by 1 unit at the attribute level.
If you are selling Premium Smartwatches and Classic Smartwatches, and both of the products use the same Large Green strap, you have 50 in stock. So, from the table, you can assign this variation a quantity of 50 and include both of the products to it. Now, if a customer buys 4 premium smartwatches with a large green strap, the stock decreases from 50 to 46. Then another customer buys 2 classic smartwatches with the same strap, and the stock drops from 46 to 44.
The Shared Attribute Stock extension includes three detailed reports to keep store admins informed about the stock status of different attributes. The extension triggers an automatic email when the attribute stock goes below the low stock threshold.
