Currently a membership plan can end after a specific length of time say one year from purchase, or the membership can be set to start and end on a specific date. But that date needs to not be specific to the year it was purchased. Memberships that run on a calendar year should end on December 31, then members must purchase the membership again on January 1. However, currently once all the memberships expire, new memberships must be created, or the dates for each membership have to be adjusted to the next year and everyone’s membership has to be manually revoked. This is not optimal.

This would be a great feature – currently running several websites with yearly memberships that follow the calendar year.
Members are allowed to renew membership before years end. However, admitting new members happens AFTER the year has ended, since we need to know how many didn’t renew their membership before allowing some on the waitlist access to buy memberships.
So having an option for, instead of duration, choosing “Ending at …” and then weeks end, months end, years end” would give the flexibility of doing this seemlessly. If a user HAS a membership updating it just extends by one year. Having a “If purchased BEFORE specific date, activate next year”-option would take care of those purchasing in december for next year, while those purchasing after 31 desember would get instant membership for the current year.
