A global setting for back orders so that all products can either default to “Allow”, “Do not allow” or “Allow, but notify customer” for products. This global setting can simple be overwritten on the individual product. It seems all products disallow back orders by default, but it’s very common to allow back orders by default.

Woo can simply keep the existing setup, but have a global option to either “Do not allow”, “Allow”, “Allow, but notify customer”, “use global setting”.

On the individual product setting, simply have: “Do not allow”, “Allow”, “Allow, but notify customer”, “use global setting”.

I saw this on a Prestashop website, it was very good.
