Composite Products for WooCommerce

Create product kit builders and custom product configurators using existing products.

Add settings to control display of product details

There does not seem to be a way, currently, to control how composite products display on the product details page and in emails. This is definitely the case if components in a composite product are variable products. Information about attributes is duplicated, resulting in a cluttered look on screen and in notification emails. I have linked to a couple of examples from our site. Marks in red indicate info that I want to exclude.

Thanks for the response, but in fact my variable products are generically named and the variations are specific. So for example, the main product containing components is called “Skaha II folding knife” and it has a component named “Handle” which points to a variable product named “Skaha Handles” which has variations named, for example, “purple G10”. The only redundancy is the component name and the variable product name which both include the word “handle”. And even if you concatenate those all together it would read “Skaha II folding knife, handle, Skaha handles, purple G10”. In my screenshot the parts I marked red are the redundant parts, namely the attributes of the particular variation (in this case the attribute “Color”). I’m not sure what situation you’d want the variable product attributes displayed, but that’s what’s happening.

    Hey there,

Thank you for getting in touch!

I had a look at your screenshots and noticed that both the Variable Product and the selected variation have the same title. This makes it seem like there is duplicate information in order confirmation pages and e-mails.

In most cases, the Variable Product has a generic name like “Beanie with colors” and the individual variations have names more specific to the attributes they represent, like “Blue”, “White” and so on.

If your Variable Product and variations have the same name, then is there a chance that these products should be Simple Products instead?
