We often have a Christmas gift campaign whereby someone can give a subscription as a gift.
The current module behaviour – sending the recipient “onboarding” email immediately will ruin the surprise for people giving a subscription as a Christmas gift.
Instead it would be better if the giver was able to choose either to send the onboarding email to themselves (to forward to their recipient when required), or to schedule a time for it to be sent.

Agreed – The immediate onboarding email may ruin the surprise for gift subscription recipients and drive potential purchasers to competitor websites for this functionality. Is anyone aware of a plugin or work around that allows the purchaser to schedule/define a specific date to send the onboarding / gift notification emails to recipients?
Agreed – the current functionality doesn’t work very well for gifts because it lacks the “surprise” factor.
