The new built in product csv export/import is great except for 1 thing – you cannot delete a value.
If the csv has an empty value (i.e. 2 commas), the merge on import ignores the value and does not overwrite existing data of the product. So if you want to delete a value (such as removing all images) it cannot be done via the import.
I would suggest that if csv contains an empty string in quotes, then it is taken as delete existing value. Or make it configurable – so on import you could say configure a value to mean delete (e.g. Have a ‘If column value equals this, merge and delete’ input field that user could configure how they want, then user could set this to say and put that string in the csv at points where they want to delete the value. Having it configurable would allow user to use Excel to edit csv file easily.

yes…
agree…
I ran into this problem today. A bunch of variable products have the incorrect variation image and it is way too time consuming to go through manually deleting all the images.
I tried to use the export import to remove them but it doesn’t recognise empty cells as delete/remove
yes, please
I have the same issue trying to remove images. The empty cell in the images columns get ignored no matter what. You can only replace the image… 🙁
Please, please please yes, I have the same issue. I want to get rid of scheduled sale price dates, but cannot. I only have 700 products on sale and that is not as easy as deleting them one by one.
