A manual workflow is defined as a workflow that has no trigger and is instead manually started by a store manager. Existing workflows would be considered ‘automatic’ workflows in comparison.
A manual workflow would need a primary data type (e.g. order, customer, subscription) which would define which rules, actions and variables could be used in the workflow.
A manual workflow could be started from a related admin page. E.g. an order manual workflow could be initiated from the edit order page. Alternatively, manual workflows could be started from a custom interface that allows selecting a set of items to be triggered. It would be useful to select items by a date range and select multiple items by ID.
This system would be a replacement for the manual order and subscription trigger tools.
If you have any use cases for manual workflows please add them as a comment 🙂

Kuldeep Upreti: Sorry, we don’t have an estimate at this time for when we can add that feature.
JPry: Any idea when we can expect the Customer data type in manual workflow?
Vincent Termini: I believe you’re looking for this topic: https://automatewoo.canny.io/automatewoo/p/manual-workflows-for-customers. Please comment/vote there, as the overall manual workflow feature has been completed. Thanks!
What is the status of implementing the Customer data type? I’d like to email all customers who have not performed an action in a given time frame. Using an order data type, customers will populate multiple times. Although I can use the workflow count for customer to restrict them from receiving multiple emails, the initial data pull is time consuming when you have a big order database (but a small customer database).
Jessica Micheal: All of our documentation, including how to install and set up AutomateWoo, can be found here: https://automatewoo.com/docs/. AutomateWoo is a paid extension available from WooCommerce.com here: https://woocommerce.com/products/automatewoo/.
You have to tell me two things. First one is how to install automate woo? Second is, what is the difference between paid and non paid automate woo plugin? I am going to use it for my website, because I want to do automation work to save my time.
Lauren Goldstein: These functions have been replaced by class methods:
aw_get_order_count_by_email()->AutomateWooCustomer::get_order_count()aw_get_customer_order_count()->AutomateWooCustomer::get_order_count()aw_get_total_spent_by_email()->AutomateWooCustomer::get_total_spent()You’ll need to retrieve a customer object from the
AutomateWooCustomer_Factoryclass in order to use those methods.Dan Bitzer: quick question about the depreciated functions. We use these three daily so is there a new fxn to replace them??
aw_get_order_count_by_email()
aw_get_customer_order_count()
aw_get_total_spent_by_email()
Dan Bitzer: WOOO HOOO! This is very exciting! Thanks Dan Bitzer

Dan Bitzer: YAY!! This is super exciting! Let me know if you need a beta tester 🙂
Dan Bitzer: Can’t wait to see it working! Thanks Dan!
Hi all, we are now in the testing phase of AutomateWoo 5.0 which includes this manual workflows feature. If all goes well we hope to publish the release next week!
Dan Bitzer: is this still happening, thanks!
The Globe BloG: This page is just for ideas for improving AutomateWoo. We’d be happy to help you via our normal support channel: https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/
I installed the automatewoo plugin on my wordpress, I don’t know why the workflow is not working after setting it up. I noticed after I filled the necessary details and I saved. Everything will just wiped off. I attached screenshots for better understanding. Can you please send me solution to this.
Christopher Michael: we are currently finishing up development of this feature. We should have a release ready in the next month or so.
Hi friend, any update on this?
Dan Bitzer: Hi friend sorry to bug, any update on this?
I would love to be a beta tester for this feature
Dan Bitzer: I would love to beta too!
We would love to be able to manually trigger a workflow by pasting a list of comma-separated email addresses, the same way the opt-out importer is done. We have many customers who sign up for our newsletter, and receive a coupon to use on their first order, but months down the road they are still subscribed, and still opening/clicking our marketing emails, but have yet to convert. It would be great to have a workflow that didn’t require an automatic trigger, that we could manually fire to send these subscribers a reminder of their first-time customer discount.
This would be especially useful now, when so many are watching their budgets.
This is an absolute must for many of our clients.
Our ideal situation would be injecting a button into the back end single order page that triggers a workflow that prints an internal receipt.
Luke Abell: We are still working on it. There have been some delays but I can’t see a beta taking longer than a month. (hopefully sooner)

Dan Bitzer: Sorry to be a pain! Any update here?
