I would really like to have the option to replace the “cancel” button on my preorder customers’ dashboard with a “request cancellation” button. My shop is a brick and mortar store first and foremost, and we have taken great pains to sync our online inventory with our in-store POS, so that people can be reasonably confident that what they’re buying online is still in stock. Unfortunately, the side effect of that is that, while online preorders are exported to our POS, preorder cancellations AREN’T, and that can be very messy and create a lot of extra work for me and my staff. If customers could request a cancellation instead of doing it themselves, we could make sure to take the appropriate steps in our POS to properly cancel the order before approving it online, to make sure inventory errors don’t occur.

Hi,
That’s a smart workaround for a real sync problem — when preorder cancellations don’t flow through to your POS automatically, letting customers cancel instantly online creates exactly the kind of inventory mismatch you’re describing. A request-and-approve step gives you the chance to update your POS before the cancellation is finalized.
Smart Pre-Order Manager for WooCommerce lets you replace the instant “cancel” button with a “request cancellation” option, so cancellations go through an approval step instead of processing immediately — giving you time to sync inventory before it’s confirmed.
Happy to help if you have questions about setting it up.
