The effort will be minimal, since only one additional short line of code is needed to enable Alipay in the existing Stripe Payment Gateway.

Anyone who currently accept credit card payment will be able to accept Alipay.
One does not have to jump through hoops to apply for an Alipay Cross Border Payment Account anymore. Anyone who has tried it should know how big a burden that was.
So yeah, I am aware that Woothemes has an AliPay Cross Border Payment Gateway, but it is useless unless you go through hell to apply for an account with Alipay first.

As most Chinese users buy with their mobile phone, it’s crucial to integrate the mobile flow from Stripe Alipay. When you use you mobile phone to buy something on a WC shop, you’re redirected to the desktop version of Alipay where you have to enter your login and password (they never remember their password). Not activating the mobile flow equals to lose 90% of the Chinese market.

Alipay Merchant accounts are only possible with a registered limited business.
Sole traders and partnerships in the UK only have a registered business name, there is no number so it is impossible to use the standard Alipay plugin.
Using Alipay with Stripe doesn’t need a seperate Alipay Merchant account, just a stripe account.

come on guys, put this code in! other app devs are milking the lack of feature and offering similar checkout via stripe plugins with a Alipay checkbox for absurd amounts of $79/site!
