Hello,
In Woo > Settings > Products > Stock, there is a Hold Stock feature. This feature will reduce stock for a set amount of minutes.
But this only takes effect when the customer goes to the Checkout.
I suggest that stock be reduced by this feature as soon as the customer places an item in the basket.
This will prevent that a customer arrives at the checkout, only to find out that one of the products in the cart is no longer in stock (if someone else has been placing the same product in the cart, and arrived at the checkout before the first customer).
Alternatively, have 2 options: the way the feature is today, and also possible to choose my suggested feature.

I too would like very much to have this be a core feature of Woo. There are two plugins that address this at present and I believe both try to track user sessions, which seems problematic. The first plugin kind or works but not when my site is under heavy usage (I get people with products disappearing from their carts at checkout); the other (paid) solution simply never worked, I had to disable caches, plugins, etc. when working with their tech support for 3 weeks and they still couldn’t get it working. So these plugin solutions seem like awkward patches to a fundamental e-commerce problem: one of a kind products that are highly sought after.
