If a customer updates the saved card in their account, but doesn’t update the saved card in the actual subscription, stripe will throw an error saying the source does not belong to the customer.
The customer only sees an error stating ‘Sorry, we are unable to process your payment at this time, please try again later’. They will always be hit with this message unless they are told to update the subscription, causing a major pain point for customers. They may just give up on their subscription because they tried multiple times with no luck.
