Pre-orders plugin allow other products to be added to cart

Currently, the pre-order plugin allows for only one pre-order product to be added to the cart. If there are existing products in the cart, the pre-order plugin wipes the cart clean. It would be great to be able to order other products while pre-ordering another product.

This is a must ! It’s a non-sense that users have to do 2 different orders to have two products delivers at the same address, 2 different payments, …

  2. Ben Karnaghan says:

This request has been here since 2013. So I doubt it that they’ll actually implement this feature anytime soon, if ever. However I plead that this get fixed ASAP. The absence of this feature practically null-and-voids the plug-in as our customers want to purchase multiple pre-order items of the same type, released on the same day but have to pay multiple times for shipping. This is pushing our customers to our competitors as this feature is lacking.

it is better for the client to handle this seperate!

  4. Si Brown says:

‘+1 It’s insane to now at the very least allow multiple pro-order products!

  5. James Wardell says:

Please add this feature. I have a client that deals heavily with preorders and her customers have complained about this

  6. Edwina says:

I agree, I am canceling my purchase. It has to be done.

  7. BMY says:

    I’m waiting for it

I understand that it’s difficult to handle normal products and pre-order products together, when one needs immediate payment and the other uses “pay later”.
But when you add a second pre-sale product with the same payment date, this must be possible to check out both together!

This is mad – when there is a simple bit of code on stackoverflow to allow multiple pre-orders at the same time, why hasn’t this been added?
Ok, I admit that handling pre-orders and products at the same time might be hard but YITH manages it no problem.

  10. Chris Atkin says:

I just purchased this plugin yesterday. My site will be heavily using Pre-Orders moving forward. I was using YITH, but thought it’d be best to use WooCommerce instead. If this can’t or won’t be fixed in the next 29 days, I will have no choice but to request a refund and go back to using YITH’s plugins. Patiently waiting for an urgent update. Thank you.

While I understand the ease of only allowing for (1) pre-order product at a time, its a MASSIVE disservice to customers (like mine) looking to add multiple products to one order and waiting for ALL of them to become available.

My customers don’t want to pre-order one product at at time, because they don’t want to submit multiple orders for pre-order products especially when most of those products will become available the same day. Why make them submit multiple orders, potentially having to pay for multiple shipping costs, for products that are available for pre-order and will be available on the SAME DAY?!?!?

  12. Dom says:

This limitation makes the plugin unusable because customers will purchase dozens of items on pre-order at once. My client has only one supplier so all pre-ordered products arrive at once, and customers can only put pre-orders in their cart, so the complexity is removed.

Even so, I’m sure it’s possible to add a feature where an order can be given the status Partially Processed, and where the status of each item in the order can be recorded individually

  13. Nicole says:

I agree!! Very annoying and inconvenient to have customers make multiple purchases!

  14. Sébastien says:

This is definitely a major requirement for most web stores. The added value of the plugin without it is very limited!

  16. Anonymous says:

    Yasss please!

  17. Anonymous says:

Yes please! Had to refund customers for paying double shipping costs, because the plugin wasn’t able to handle more than 1 pre-order at a time.

  18. Anonymous says:

That’s ridiculous you cant add more than one product!! Refund request on its way!

  19. Anonymous says:

totally agree. We need this feature to be activated asap. A lot of client think that it’s a bug on the website that deletes all current added to cart items.

  20. Matt Campbell says:

Any update on this? It’s a basic necessity and is causing me to actively seek an alternative plugin.

There’s a lot with WooCom Pre-orders that needs updating and it appears there’s zero development being done on the plugin since WooCom bought it. 🙁

  21. Amit Gupta says:

    Hi Guys,

Please check the working Pre orders with the normal orders. I made a solution for it.

If you want the plugin, you can contact me on my email id.

  22. Matt Campbell says:

Does your plugin require that pre-orders be set as payment upfront Amit?

Though I imagine there are some businesses for whom current functionality fits the bill, mine is not one of them. I do hope Woo considers developing this functionality.

I want to share this suggestion from Abhi — a Woo support person who gave me an incredibly thorough and empathetic response:

However in the comments on the Ideas Board, there was a suggested customization to help work around this:

  24. MikeIsTheBest says:

I can’t believe YITH does a better job on this feature than WooCommerce themselves. Embarrassing to say the least and I will be switching to YITH products moving forward. For anyone looking for a quick and dirty solution, try the following in your child theme’s functions.php file:

    add_action( ‘init’, ‘remove_validation_cart’ );
    function remove_validation_cart(){
    remove_filter( ‘woocommerce_add_to_cart_validation’, array( $GLOBALS[‘wc_pre_orders’]->cart, ‘validate_cart’ ), 15, 2 );

  25. Amit Gupta says:

    Hi Matt,
No, it doesn’t require any restriction. it works seemlesly.

  26. Moly Doly says:

Yes, it may be good, many time it may annoying for customers to make multiple time purchase.

  27. Brigitte Giblin says:

desperately need to allow multiple products to be added to cart. I wish i had know this wasnt possible before buying!
