Currently purchasers of multiple products are charged excessive shipping charges, since they pay tare weight on every product. This discourages them from making the purchase and results in abandoned carts. If Woo shipping allowed the tare weight to be charged once, and the product weights added to it, the results would be much more accurate, resulting in fewer abandoned carts. This is the way osCommerce did it. The combining should be done before passing the results to the shipping service’s API. For example, the box weighs 3 ounces. Each product weighs an ounce, so if you buy four products, you only pay seven ounces. Currently you are charged the three ounce tare weight with every product, or 16 ounces.
