You should be able to select a date for the gift to go out on gift subscriptions. This probably needs to be linked up with the adding pre-purchase to subscriptions. So basically someone goes in, buys this 1 year of subscription for their friend… and then the system waits till that day, sends out an email for them to claim their account and that THAT creates a new order that starts the subscription process.
Most people dont want to gift a never ending subscription… They want to buy them x amount of time and send it to them on their birthday/christmas/etc…

I agree – this would make gifting so much better!
Here’s what I posted in my support chat earlier today:
I want to be able to set a future date when the recipient of a gift is to get their email announcing their good fortune (i.e. having been given a subscription). Typically the recipient’s birthday, Christmas Eve etc. It seems logical that one should be able to make the purchase of a Gifting well in advance of the actual day the gift is presented to the “giftee”.
