USPS Shipping Method for WooCommerce

Get shipping rates from the USPS API which handles both domestic and international parcels.

User option to change/remove 12-inch product dimension limit on weight-based calculation in “parcel packing method”

I currently use the plugin to provide live USPS shipping rates to customers in the cart and checkout page. Since the vast majority of my shipments are using USPS Ground Advantage which is primarily weight-based under 1 pound (4oz, 8oz, 12oz, and 15.999oz tiers), I heavily rely on the “weight-based” calculation and do not need the box packer algorithms. I can legally ship Ground Advantage packages that are longer than 12-inches dimension no problem and it is allowed by USPS.

However, the plugin enforces a 12-inch product dimension limit on the weight-based calculation. So if a customer adds one product to the cart that has a dimension over 12-inches and another product to the cart that is less than 12-inches. Even if the weight of both products is less than 1-pound let’s say, the plugin will calculate a shipping rate for *two* packages instead of one combined package and give a shipping cost at checkout that is over-charged – even though I can ship both items in one package even if one item is greater than 12-inch dimension. This is annoying to the customer as they think they are getting overcharged on shipping and I have to refund shipping charges to the customer for the over-calculation which also costs me fees. (I know I can work around this by changing all my products to have dimension 12-inches or less, but this is not feasible as I have 10000+ products and I don’t want to “lie” about the product dimensions)

My request is to have an user-option to remove or change the 12-inch limit on weight-based calculation since this doesn’t really apply to Ground Advantage parcels. Let me take the responsibility of fitting everything into one package based on weight calculation. I don’t really use the box-packer algorithms as a human will always pack a box better than a computer as we know how to stuff/squeeze and “bulge” a box. A computer algorithm can’t do that.

This will be super helpful and reduce shipping over-charges to the customer.

Thank you.
