Optimize your WordPress

optimizeToday is a pretty big day for us at WooThemes. Firstly, because we can finally launch this theme that has been so hyped and received such glowing feedback from our beta testers, and secondly because it is our first theme sporting our brand spanking new theme option’s panel.

Optimize is another pixel perfect business theme conceptualized and coded by the Magatron. Living up to it’s name Optimize has been lurking around, behind the scenes, being tested by our wonderful beta testers for a couple weeks now, with lots of new features being added and optimized according to the feedback we have been given.

Based on the massive success of Coffee Break Magnus was quick to get back to the drawing board and work on a similar theme with a beautiful home page prominently highlighting a product or service using fancy JQuery trickery, all the while showcasing some page content and the business’s social media profiles.

What is so awesome with this theme is how versatile it can be and how optimized a user can make it to really give it a unique, wow factor. Magnus even added a portfolio page so not only could this theme serve businesses with its various products, but also creative freelancers and agencies with their past works.

Fox and Jeff’s new option’s panel that comes with this theme is so unbelievably cool it deserved it’s own blog post – The New WooFramework (Video). The icing on this Christmas cake is the beautiful 22 alternate styles this theme comes packaged with. There truly is a colour combination for just about anyone.

If I brag anymore about this theme Magnus’s head might swell too big for us to cope with, so rather visit the theme listing or view the demo to whet your appetite before thinking about how you can use this versatile theme.

    Great new release.
Are the front page ‘icon boxes’ from widgets or specified pages as in Vibrant cms?

    • Mark Forrester
      December 15, 2009

They are managed by the theme option’s panel, you just need to specify the page IDs of content you want to feature here.

Fantastic work guys! Perfect addition to your business themes (and oddly enough almost 90% similar to a design we were custom creating for a client anyway!)

When I click on the purchase link I get the following message:

“We apologize, but this theme/package is unavailable for purchase at this time. Please select another theme/package from our website here.”

This theme is pretty tight! awesome work went into it! Ease to change key graphics is nice but with all the styles that come with the theme you probably don’t need to.

New framework is a slick improvement. The old framework is great, but when you use it and go back to the old, you start to nice the awesomeness of the new one.

I was playing around with the featured area the other night and I have an idea for a design.

    Awesome work again!

I really like this theme, and could possibly purchase it in the future.

I would like to know how extendable it is, though. Does it have any action/filter hooks, child theme support, or any way to easily make modifications “safely” so they aren’t wiped-out with theme updates? I know, I’m too lazy to use “diff…”

    • Magnus Jepson
      December 16, 2009

We don’t have any filter/hooks yet, but it’s very easy to make a child theme (see our tutorial section), and also add css (to custom.css) so updates aren’t wiped out. Our WooFramework is also seperated from the rest of the theme (/functions/ folder) so that will be painless to update in the future.

        Magnus,

I want to echo everyone else’s comments and say that this may be your best theme ever! Very nice work.

One request I’d like to throw in the ring is for you guys to put together a little more content on using child themes with Woo. For example, Ian Stewart did a really nice job with explaining child themes, as well as providing a list of action and filter hooks his themes use.

Could you guys add this in with your documentation somewhere?

        Thanks again,
        Nick

          December 17, 2009

          Thanks Nick,

We don’t use filter/hooks yet, but we have a tutorial on using child themes, so check that out 🙂 We’re also going to make a Woo codex to explain the theme files/functions in detail soon.

        December 17, 2009

Okay, the child theme support is the big “must-have” for me. I haven’t actually purchased a WooTheme yet, despite having followed you from the pretty much the beginning, so I wasn’t too sure how your “WooFramework” worked.

Hey Magnus, Just wanted to say a mega thank you for such an amazing theme, I am developing one of my sites with it now and the options made available by woothemes is incredible! The backend is amazing and the concept behind both the theme and the backend has been so well thought out. This really has made my day 🙂 I know that you guys like to give your followers what they want but I am sure you must have read my mind on this one as it is just perfect. Thanks so much everybody involved.
