Seamless EUR transition for Bulgarian merchants

What’s in this release

Bulgarian merchants on WooPayments were automatically transitioned from BGN to EUR ahead of Bulgaria’s adoption of the euro on January 1, 2026. The transition included updated fee structures, automatic currency switching, and corrections to any historical fee discrepancies. No action was required. BGN has been removed from multi-currency options for Bulgarian accounts.

Afterpay and Clearpay limits increased for Australia and New Zealand merchants — from A$2,000 / NZ$2,000 to A$4,000 / NZ$4,000. Buy now, pay later is now available on a wider range of higher-value purchases.

Stripe now has faster onboarding. New installations of the Stripe for WooCommerce extension now redirect to Stripe connection settings immediately after activation, rather than staying on the Plugins page. Account setup starts right away without any additional navigation.

Subscriptions created with mandate-based payment methods — including Stripe Link, SEPA, iDEAL, and Bancontact — can now be edited in the admin after creation. An overbroad mandate check introduced in v8.9.0 for Indian recurring payment regulations was preventing merchants from modifying line items, shipping methods, and other subscription properties, even after a customer switched to a different payment method. The fix now checks the actual mandate type before applying restrictions, limiting the edit lock to Indian fixed-amount mandates as originally intended.
