AutomateWoo 6.9.0: recipients can opt out of tracking, and cart links ask before changing a cart

Two changes in this release are visible to your customers. Recipients can now opt out of AutomateWoo email and SMS tracking, which stops their opens and clicks being recorded. If you also run MailPoet 5.38.1 or later, turning open and click tracking off in MailPoet turns it off in AutomateWoo as well, so a subscriber only has to make that choice once.

The second change adds a confirmation step. When a customer clicks a reorder or cart-restore link in one of your emails, AutomateWoo now asks them to confirm before replacing what is already in their cart. Until now the cart changed on the click, which could clear items a shopper had been collecting. Everything else in 6.9.0 is security and privacy work on how AutomateWoo connects to outside services like ActiveCampaign and Mailchimp.

How to get it

Update to AutomateWoo 6.9.0.

One thing to check if you send plain text emails: a “<” followed immediately by another character now removes the text after it, up to the next “>”. A comparison with spaces around it, like “price < 5”, is unaffected. Review any plain text email content that uses angle brackets before your next send.
