Hello WooPayments Team,
I’d like to suggest an improvement to the payout processing schedule for EU merchants.
I understand that there is currently a 3 business day delay for payouts in the EU, which is perfectly reasonable. However, this delay becomes unnecessarily long when weekends or public holidays fall within the processing period.
My suggestion is to count calendar days rather than business days when calculating payout delays.
With SEPA Instant payments now operating 24/7 across the EU, including weekends and public holidays, the traditional banking restrictions that justified these delays are becoming increasingly outdated.
Unless there are specific regulatory, technical, or manual approval requirements preventing this, I believe WooPayments should explore ways to modernise its payout infrastructure to reflect today’s banking capabilities.
For example, a three day payout delay should ideally mean three actual days, regardless of whether a weekend falls in between.
The benefits would be significant:
– Faster access to funds for EU merchants.
– Improved cash flow, particularly for small businesses.
– More predictable payout schedules.
– A payment experience that better reflects modern European banking infrastructure.
Could your team consider introducing calendar day payout processing, or at least investigate whether weekend and holiday delays can be eliminated for EU merchants using SEPA Instant compatible bank accounts?
Thanks!
