Digital Farm

Important: This theme was retired in June 2012. Documentation is no longer being updated.

Setting up the header space ↑ Back to top

Digital Farm gives you control over your background header image and logo, which can transform the look of your site together with the interchangeable alternate color styles.

The default style is quite comical, fun and bright. Adding professional stock imagery and a slick logo can create a professional and even corporate look.

The background image for the header should have a width of 940 pixels. The height can be whatever you wish, but take note of the pixel height so you can add it in the theme options.

The logo can be moved away from the corners by specifying a margin from the top and the left, i.e., 20 pixels from the top and 30 pixels from the left.

Setting up the home page carousel ↑ Back to top

If you wish to use the Digital Farm home page featured carousel, enable it in the theme option’s panel.

Assign a tag or tags to display posts.

For the demo we created a tag called “lorem,” then tagged some posts with it. You can specify how many featured entries you want the tabber to scroll through and give the carousel a title. In the example, we used the featured carousel to display portfolio pieces, but it can be used for anything.

Adding an image to the carousel and post thumbnails ↑ Back to top

To enable images for featured slides, homepage thumbnails and archive blog posts to display correctly, you need to add an image via the ‘Digital Farm Custom Settings’ panel below your blog/page post form in the WordPress backend.

The custom settings panel look like this:

Select an image on your local computer using the Choose File button, then click Save and the image will automatically resize for the featured slider (if required) and post thumbnails.

Note: The image resizer can resize an image to a smaller size, but cannot stretch an image to be larger than the uploaded size.

Setting up the About module ↑ Back to top

Digital Farm comes with an optional About module in the home page sidebar, spanning the width of both widgetized sidebar columns. Use it to write a short biography about you/your company and add an image/logo.

About You can also add a button to your About module by giving the button a label and a link to click on.

Layout Options ↑ Back to top

With Digital Farm you can specify if you want the excerpt or the full post to appear. This displays content up until the Read More break on the home page, in Search and in the category archives.

Adding a video to a blog post ↑ Back to top

To add a video post, you need to add a new post or edit an existing one, then go to the Digital Farm Custom Settings panel at the bottom of the post.

Add an optional picture for the thumbnail view in the category archive. Add the video embed code that can be found on most streaming video sites. Resizing the video is done automatically.

Placing an advert on your website ↑ Back to top

Digital Farm has dedicated advertising blocks available in the sidebar.

The 125 x 125 pixel adverts are displayed as a widget. To set up, add the adverts and links in the theme options, then assign Woo Ads – 125 x 125 and Woo Ads – 300 x 250 widgets to a widgetized area.

Widgets ↑ Back to top

There are four custom widgets you can add to two widgetized areas in the sidebar:

  • Woo – Flickr
  • Woo – Twitter
  • Woo – Ads 125 x 125
