Xero for WooCommerce

Could you add an option to process Xero invoices and payments in the background using WooCommerce Action Scheduler, rather than making customers wait for Xero during checkout?

We’ve been investigating slow checkout times on primalraw.co.uk and found that the Xero extension (v1.9.15) sometimes adds several seconds to payment processing.

On one genuine customer order, the checkout request took 18.5 seconds, including 13 seconds communicating with Xero. Other orders had Xero processing times of 3–5 seconds.

We’ve also noticed repeated contact lookups and invoice checks during the same order, even when the invoice hasn’t changed.

WooCommerce support confirmed that synchronisation currently runs during checkout and that background processing has been suggested before.

Ideally, we’d like an option that lets customers complete checkout without waiting for Xero, while invoices and payments continue to sync automatically afterwards.

It would need to handle failed syncs, retries and duplicate prevention so accounting records stay accurate.

This would make a noticeable difference to stores processing regular online payments.
