Alternate ID for better understanding of traffic

Affiliate for Woocommerce is a good product. It has most of the features I like and use. One feature that my affiliates and I would like is ways to know where traffic comes from. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, other websites. Right now, everything is based on ?ref=affiliateId. But it would be great to add alternative ids. Something like ?ref=affiliateid&alt=facebook. This could be recorded and shown to the affiliates so they understand exactly where the traffic is coming from.
