When clicking on the ‘Unsubscribe’ link in the footer of emails, the user must then uncheck the box and ‘Save preferences’.
The idea here is that, like many websites/emails, the user is automatically unsubscribed after clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ link in the footer of a marketing email. The link would take them to a page stating: "You are now unsubscribed" – rather than having to uncheck the box and save those changes.
