I think this is what I’m here looking for. The “preview” feature on the email keeps confusing our clients.
Because it just uses the most recent order.
My workflow has rules restricting it to specific products, so the preview populates the placeholders with the wrong fields!
The preview should have a “preview with order/post id” option which populates it with the correct values, and also lets you easily resend it to the customer.
This is so close to being available, but very difficult to implement ourselves other than rebuilding the entire preview feature, as the innards are not editable.
The snippet itself to take the specified object id is so annoyingly simple: https://gist.github.com/danielbitzer/a11ffc5b3e2fd7e1f280cb8b3977b0d7
But it needs some kind of ui to pass that in to the preview, and then also populate the send to box with the order id, and that is not seeming to be possible by extending the code.
An MVP for this could be done for Orders & Subscriptions by adding a time field to the existing manual triggers. Choosing specific times can be confusing, because of timezones, and it wouldn’t work on occasions where there was more than one order in a given second, which is why I say it would be an MVP.
