It would be nice if the product addon selections would clear and not just the variable product selections when the clear button is pressed. Currently only the variable selections and input is cleared leaving the product addon selections/ input text behind.

The ‘Clear’ button that shows up after you select a variation, currently clears only the selected variation. Since Product Add-Ons are not specific to each variation and the same set of add-ons shows up for any selected variation, it may not be ideal for the majority of users to clear add-ons when they clear the selected variations, as they would prefer add-ons to persist regardless of the variation selection. Given that we haven’t received any more requests about this, since you first published this request, we don’t have any immediate plans to explore this in the foreseeable future.
