Dear WooCommerce Team,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to request consideration for expanding WooPayments support to Uganda and other East African countries. WooCommerce has become one of the most powerful ecommerce platforms globally, and many entrepreneurs, developers, creators, and businesses across Africa are building their businesses using WooCommerce.
However, one major challenge we face is the lack of official WooPayments support for countries like Uganda. While WooPayments supports multiple currencies including UGX, businesses in Uganda are currently unable to officially onboard, receive payouts, or fully utilize the platform.
Africa’s digital economy is growing rapidly, especially in areas such as:
* Digital marketplaces
* Ecommerce stores
* Creator economies
* Online education
* SaaS platforms
* Freelancing platforms
* Digital products and services
There is increasing demand for:
* Local currency support
* Mobile money integration (MTN MoMo, Airtel Money)
* Vendor payouts
* Marketplace split payments
* Cross-border payments
* Secure creator monetization systems
Many businesses are forced to rely on complex third-party solutions or build custom payment systems because WooPayments is unavailable in our region. Expanding support to Uganda and East Africa would open WooCommerce to millions of potential merchants and developers who already trust the WooCommerce ecosystem.
As a developer building digital commerce solutions for African businesses and creators, I strongly believe there is a huge opportunity for WooCommerce to become a leading ecommerce payment solution in Africa.
I would appreciate any information regarding:
* Future plans for Uganda and East Africa support
* Partnership opportunities with local payment providers
* Mobile money integration possibilities
* Marketplace payout infrastructure for African businesses
Thank you for the incredible work your team continues to do for the global ecommerce community. I sincerely hope WooCommerce will consider supporting underserved but rapidly growing markets like Uganda.
Kind regards,
Kevin
