Add a dropdown on the admin side of the Table Rate Extension, asking if the condition and rate should apply Per Product, or on the Subtotal of all items.
In other words, if I want shipping on my $50 items to be different than shipping on 2 x $25 items, I could set up conditions based on price, then select shipping to be calculated Per Product
I know a Per-Product extension exists, but then you couldn’t offer different shipping options such as standard, expedited, overnight, international, etc.
This would basically give you the option to combine the best of both worlds.

This would be a very useful enhancement for a Table Rate Extension because allowing rates to apply either Per Product or to the Subtotal would provide much more flexibility when creating shipping rules. For example, a store could charge differently for a $50 item versus two $25 items while still offering standard, expedited, overnight, or international shipping methods. The same logic could work for products such as a Travertine Dining Table, where shipping costs may depend on the individual product rather than simply the combined cart subtotal. This approach would effectively combine the flexibility of per-product shipping with the broader options available through table-rate shipping.
Multiple shipping options per product! Really, I’m surprised there isn’t already a way to do this.
