Today’s release is a beauty. A few months back we asked the talented Mr. Chris Rowe, who’s helped design a handful of our business, photography and personal themes, to design his first WooCommerce specific theme. Needless to say, he didn’t let us down and brought his usual attention to detail, clean styling, and crisp typography to the table to produce « Sliding ».
Sliding is a design that although hugely flexible in implementation I believe is tailor suited for online fashion stores. With a flexible slider designed for portrait shaped imagery your product line is presented professionally, whilst easily accessible. They key to any online store’s success is good photography and this theme shines with it.
The homepage also boasts horizontal sliders to fit in lots of products, whilst keeping the homepage relatively short and compact. The shop page however lists all your products in the typical grid format, and that layout could easily be applied to the homepage should you prefer it. Characteristics of other popular Chris Rowe’s designs can be seen, like similar blog post styling and the featured slider of Delicious Magazine.
You’ve still got access to the usual WooCommerce shortcodes to place sticky notes and flash sales banners on the homepage and widgetized regions in the footer to place more accessible information.

WooCommerce v1.3.1
Including many minor bug fixes and improvements to the core, all of which you read about in the changelog, the most noteworthy features of today’s release are the ability to re-order payment gateways and choose a default, as is shown below.
As well as a new « Shipping class » taxonomy for grouping products and an enhanced flat rate shipping system to give a flat rate  to each shipping class. An example of this would be grouping products under « T-shirts » and then setting flat shipping rates for that particular product group.
This is currently only available for flat rates, but eventually we will be applying the same logic to table shipping making it an even more powerful extension.

Today also see’s the release of two payment gateway extensions.
Suomen Verkkomaksut Gateway
Quite a name we know. Suomen Verkkomaksut Oy is the leading e-payment method provider in Finland. The Suomen Verkkomaksut plugin extends WooCommerce allowing you to take payments via their payment portal. You need to register yourself to Suomen Verkkomaksut portal and make a contract with them to actually use this module. You can only use EUR as the currency of your WooCommerce shop.
Stripe
With Stripe you can accept all Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and Diners Club cards directly on your store. At the moment, you must be based in the US to receive payments; this involves both having a U.S. address, and having a significant shareholder of the company with a valid SSN. Â Stripe has no setup fees, no monthly fees, no card storage fees, no hidden costs: you only get charged when you earn money. You can also setup automatic money transfers to your bank account from Stripe. Stripe will then automatically transfer the money to your bank account seven days after the payment was made.

Very unlikely. Subscription sites and eCommerce store are very different things.
Subscriptions are one thing, but recurring billing is another. Many e-commerce businesses have a product that needs to renew, whether it is a membership or a physical product.
So, those who have been watching the idea board expecting the #2 top idea to implemented/developed should expect nothing?

as you can sell digital products like downloads, they could be valid a limited time. Examples are endless.
Subscriptions = automatic sequential billing
Recurring payments = automatic sequential billing
Either way this functionality is largely dependent on the payment provider. Many don’t even offer it as a service which alone makes it difficult to integrate.
I wouldn’t say ‘expect nothing’ as we are looking into it, but we feel there are other offerings which perform this particular task more efficiently than WooCommerce could at present.

I have several non-profit organizations that require recurring payments for donations. SHOPP 1.2 will impliment this feature. Why can WooCommerce not impliment this feature when it is going through the same paypal standard account as shopp?

Does the extension follow the process documented on the strip website? Meaning, the credit card details are NOT stored anywhere within my database? Are they passed using that api so I don’t have to worry about any additional PCI compliance?
It’s the same price as paypal standard. Pretty nice for the customer to never leave your site.
It uses Stripes CURL API – CC details are not stored, just sent to stripe (hence the need for an SSL certificate on your site).
This theme is really nice, I do think, as shown in the images, that it is best suited for clothing shops.

My only problem is when scrolling up and down on the website (on my Mac), when I get to the sliding galleries, scrolling up and down browses through the gallery instead of navigating the website.
Is there a way to fix that?
Tricky, this section is a div with a horizontal scroll bar (modified with javascript) so it’s behaviour is dependent on your browser. You could perhaps play around with the jQuery mousewheel plugin to see if you can disable the mousewheel on that section.
i don’t understand why you can t have a slider like this on the woocanvas theme. Its good to put out lots of new themes, but this seems like such a basic thing to have on a shop homepage.
i think that the most impressive aspect of this new theme is not the design–which i find ok, but not great–but the slider component which should be part of woocanvas, and part of the woocommerce framework in general. Instead of making theme after theme, the best components of all should be packed into one.
It is another strategy, i realize, but i think a porsche is a porsche because all of the great components are gathered in one machine, rather than spread out over a whole product range. good breaks on the cayenne, nice styling on the 911, etc.–they bring it all together on each product. After all, its quality, not quantity that counts!

-after the visitor redirects from the checkout to paypal process (standard)i want to know if site owner can configure URL based acknowledgment if the process accomplished or if it failed (abandon or stopped)
it’s important to me be able to track conversions in Google analytics.

Don’t believe this is possible out of the box.
WooCommerce can redirect a successful payment back to a thank you page, but nothing that can tell if they abandoned, etc…

This theme is very beautiful.
I have 1 problem only, most of your in house theme is using the 4 column product display. The display image is too small, is there a way i can change it to the 3 column display like the abundance theme.
