WooCommerce Subscriptions 8.6.1 ships two fixes to renewal state handling for stores running HPOS.
The first: when a subscriber upgraded or downgraded on the same payment gateway, the plan-switching logic could leave the renewal mode unchanged. That’s now corrected. The second: switching to a different payment gateway could incorrectly flip a subscription from manual to automatic renewal, overriding the subscriber’s preference. That’s fixed too.
Update to 8.6.1 from Dashboard → Updates. A Subscriptions Health Check tool is shipping later this week — it gives you a clear view of renewal states across your store so you can review and manage them directly.
