There are some third-party inventory management systems (like TradeGecko) that require an SKU for every line item.
If Product Add-Ons had the option to add an SKU to add-ons (especially global add-ons) it would improve compatibility with these third-party services.

Hey everyone,
Thank you for your feedback!
Add-ons are not physical/standalone products, but product attributes/characteristics and therefore do not have product attributes like SKU or inventory management settings. If you are looking to create a product configurator, where each option is a separate product with its own SKU and inventory settings, I recommend using Composite Products instead: https://woocommerce.com/products/composite-products/.
This would be a very useful feature for my shop. Add-ons are a crucial aspect of our products, where the SKU plays a big role. Hopefully, this will be added soon!
YES!!! THIS ONE! My setup (with virtual products) looks at what the customer has purchased (SKU) and grants access to different parts of the site based on that. The parent SKU is useless without also having the info provided by the product add-ons.
Please add this ASAP!
