When Booking Customer Defined blocks the ux is not great. What would be fantastic is to provide a way to publish the calendar in the admin ui to the shop for the end users. This way clients could see open slots and book it. Might be a difficult metaphor for a mobile device but even a read only view so they can have an overview of what is available.

This is already possible using the Bookings Availability extension, which surfaces a customer-facing calendar/schedule view of open slots on the storefront — so end users get a clear overview of availability rather than having to probe one slot at a time:
