MailPoet 5.43.0 changes what happens when you send from an address on a domain you haven’t authenticated. If your site has more than 200 subscribers, those campaigns are now paused before sending instead of going out. You’ll see a notice that lists each paused campaign and the steps to resume it.
Here’s what to do. Check the From address on your campaigns. If it’s on your own domain (for example, news@yourstore.com), authenticate that domain by adding the DNS records MailPoet gives you with your domain or hosting provider. Once the domain is authenticated, follow the steps in the notice to resume your paused campaigns. Large inbox providers like Gmail and Yahoo now expect bulk senders to authenticate their domain, so unauthenticated campaigns were already at risk of landing in spam or being rejected.
Finding emails is easier too. The Newsletters list now sorts by Date created and Last modified. The Emails and sending status pages have new filters for status, list, and sent date. In the block email editor, the subject and preview text now sit at the top of the Settings panel, and a new email’s name follows its subject until you rename it.
The plugin download is about a quarter smaller, so installs and updates finish faster.
This release also fixes several problems that affected who gets your emails. Custom fields used in segments could be permanently deleted, which changed who those segments included; they’re now protected. Date filters on the Forms, Lists, Segments, Tags, and Logs pages now use your site’s time zone instead of UTC, so “sent today” means your today. Clicking Start building again while the automation editor was loading no longer creates duplicate automations.
A handful of navigation fixes round it out. The browser Back button now leaves the Emails, Settings, Help, Import, and welcome wizard pages on the first press, and the Automations and automation analytics pages no longer need two presses. The Emails, Automations, and Settings pages no longer load slowly when your MailPoet Sending Service account has no authorized sender domain. Opening an automation email’s send page from an admin notice now shows the editor instead of a blank page. And the subscribe checkbox label on comment and registration forms no longer refills itself after you clear it in Settings.
How to get it
Update to MailPoet 5.43.0 in your WordPress dashboard. If you have more than 200 subscribers, check your From address before your next send. If any campaigns are paused, authenticate your sending domain using MailPoet’s guide to email authentication, then resume them from the notice.
