In today’s technological age, we’re each locked in to a myriad of online services, web-based applications and systems of social engagement such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more. Consequently, many popular services for business are moving online as well, or have parts of their systems that run on web servers around the world.
Having synergy between these services adds value to each service, be it for personal or professional use. What if you could instantly tweet when you upload a video to your YouTube account? Consequently, what if your new WooCommerce orders could automatically be added to a spreadsheet on your Google Drive, added as items in Freshbooks or sent through to your Help Scout account where you can follow up with the customer and ask questions about their recent purchase experience?
Zapier, a wonderful web-based service, provides exactly this service. When an action occurs within one service, perform an action on another service.
Today, we’re pleased to announce the official WooCommerce integration for Zapier!
A bit about Zapier
Zapier is a small team of talented individuals, all with a common end goal in mind; syncing the web.
Zapier’s “About” page reads: “Zapier is for busy people who know their time is better spent selling, marketing, or coding. Instead of wasting valuable time coming up with complicated systems – you can use Zapier to automate the web services you and your team are already using on a daily basis.”
What can I sync from WooCommerce to Zapier?
The WooCommerce Zapier extension includes triggers that can be set up to send new (paid) orders to Zapier or when an order changes status. From there, the possibilities of what can be achieved are virtually limitless, limited only by the number of services available on Zapier at a given time (there are plenty).
The combination of a trigger and an action, on Zapier, is referred to as a “Zap”. Each time a zap is triggered, this is referred to as a “Task”.
What can WooCommerce and Zapier do together, for me?
With the myriad of services available on Zapier, there are tons of exciting possibilities when using WooCommerce on your Zapier account.
To give everyone a head start, we’ve selected a few Zaps which we feel would be useful to everyone:
Accounting
Billing & Communication
CRM
Email Marketing
File Management
Customer Communication (SMS)
Support Platforms
As a part of today’s launch, and to get everyone off to a flying start with both WooCommerce and Zapier, new Zapier users will receive 100 extra tasks when signing up on Zapier via this URL. That’s a really neat way to truly put the system through it’s paces!
This looks great! Where and when can I buy this extension?
WooCommerce Zapier is available for sale on WooThemes.com, from today, at the introductory price of $59.
Zapier Integration
Automated marketing & order fulfillment for WooCommerce stores. Zapier integration with thousands of popular apps, no code.
We’d love to hear how WooCommerce and Zapier help you to run your business. If you have use cases you’d like to share with us, and the world, please post them in the comments below.
We’re looking forward to seeing what exciting zaps you can create using WooCommerce and Zapier.
About
Apologies but I have no other way of raising this other than via this blog because I cannot get into the help desk to raise a support ticket at all and I am not receiving any support emails. I think this problem has occured on the back of asking accounts to sort issues with an updated email address.
I am getting the following page
https://woocommerce.com/wp-login.php?action=zendesk-remote-logout&message=Failed+to+update+user%3A+Failed+permission+check+on+update&kind=error
Can someone sort this out urgently and send a response to my new email address under My Profile and not the old billing email address as part of my Order.
Kind Regards
Spottyangel
Looking into your issue now…thanks!
Hi Woo,
This seems like a pretty awesome plugin! Just a quick question, in the documentation it states that all information is sent securely via HTTPS – Am I right in saying that one needs to have an SSL certificate present in order for the Zapier plugin to work?
Thanks in advance…
Hi there. 🙂
The HTTPS refers to the protocol to which the information is sent. As far as I can see, an SSL certificate isn’t required for this kind of interaction.
Wow.. Another great plugin. Good job woocommerce!
When is my product vendor update???? Wait for so long =)
Hi Adrian,
This update has been deployed for a while. 🙂
Please check that you’ve activated your license and that you’ve got the latest version of the WooThemes Updater plugin.
If you’re having trouble getting the update, please log a ticket with our help desk. 🙂
Hi Matty,
Do you mean this is an update (2013.08.26 – version 1.0.1)?
Sorry I just consider this is a fix.
Matt’s product vendor extension is updating every 2 week and adding more features every release. But Woocommerce “product vendor” extension have no update for a month after release which is so disappointed.
Sorry i bring woocommerce to compare others again… HaizZZZ,,,,,,,
Product Vendors is now on v1.0.2, but this is still just a bug fix release. We are hard at work on v1.1 and will release the update as soon as we have completed it. Building quality code takes time 🙂
Hi Hugh,
But the changelog for the extension have not change, it is still show version 1.0.1 as the final version. What type of new features are likely to see on v1.1?
Thanks
Since WooCommerce would appear to be availble on Zapier without this plugin, what happens if I try to use the the WooCommerce Zap without having this plugin installed first (or at all)?
Hi Matt. 🙂
The Zapier service makes use of web hooks to connect to WooCommerce. The extension is required in order to interface with these web hooks and trigger the appropriate events.
So while the service is available, it won’t work without the extension. 🙂
Hey guys, Zapier co-founder here! This is *awesome*, we’re very pumped about the possibilities WooCommerce brings to the table. If anyone has Zapier specific questions, I’d love to address them here, or just email me bryan@zapier.com!
Hi Bryan,
You’re product Zapier seems very interesting, but it’s very focus on google apps, we’re using office 365 which we think it’s more robust and with many thousands more features than google apps.
Are you planning to integrate your services with Office 365?
and finally Facebook integration is in your development roadmap?
Gary
Office 365 is on our roadmap, we’re very interested in it. You can do some limited stuff with their brand new support of IMAP (which we support as well) but some of the other pieces are bit trickier!
We’re always looking to expand our Facebook integrations, shoot us an email at contact@zapier.com with some specific and we’ll see what we can do for you!
Still waiting on the Sensei post guys 😉 your keeping us in suspense here!
Won’t be long. 🙂
My old ticker here is not what it used to be Joel, the sooner the better mate but make it magic of course 😉
Thanks. Thus, if we buy at $ 59 and you guys later raise the price back to $ 99 or so. After 12 months, how much do we need to pay for renewal?
After 12 months you’ll pay the full price for renewal. If you renew within 3 months of the license expiring you’ll get a 50% discount of whatever the price is at the time 🙂
I am also eager to hear about Sensei updates. What is the status? About to pay for a single site license, and working on Canvas…..
This is a really great news! As for the use cases, I’d love to see a possibility to send the content of an order by email.
This is useful for me because I’m working with designing contractors and I’d like to send them the design specification ordered by a customer but without sharing the customer details.
I’d be great if there is also a possibility that they send the design by email and it’s somehow delivered to the customer via the shop. So the contractors have no access to the customer and order details.
Have a look at mailparser.io in the zapier service directory
Thanks for the idea. However, I see there is no zapier to link mailparser.io with WooCommerce…
This is maybe a bit simpler than mailparser.io … to send the content of an order by email, use the New Order trigger and use the data fields to specify exactly what you want to send – you can create the body of the email using your own text combined with the values from the order. If your design files are downloadable files for the product, they can be included in the email.
Use the generic Email service (from Zapier) to send from a zapier email address, or the Gmail service to send via your own Gmail/Apps account.
Look for the WooCommerce to Gmail or WooCommerce to Email zap templates to help you get started.

Very cool. Any chance of integrating this with wc subscriptions?
I’d love to be able to zap whenever a customer converts from a free trial/renews automatically/ or cancels their subscription.
Could be very powerful. Is this something that is even on your radar?
Is there any plan to implement this with WC Subscriptions?
I’d love to be able to Zap when a customer converts from a free trial, or their account is billed for a renewal, or they cancel their account (failed payment would be great too).
Is this even on your radar?
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Integration with the WooCommerce Subscriptions extension is on our roadmap, and will hopefully be part of the next major release.
In the mean time, orders created via WooCommerce subscriptions *should* still be handled by the Zapier extension. We haven’t tested that though.
James
Is it possible to just have it activate a Zap on specific product sales? Like can I just select 1 or 2 products (that happen to be subscriptions) and only have it take action when those sell, or are completed? We’ve got different products for different things and would like to only have specific actions occur depending on which product is purchased.
Yes, you should be able to use Zap Filters to only act on sales that contain a specific product.
See the documentation (http://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-zapier/) for more details on how to use filters.
I’m all for the added functionality and tying into other services like CRMs, but zapier is an extremely expensive product.
For anyone with a store that receives more than 20 orders a month and updates regularly, zapier can be more expensive than purchasing a dozen extensions to do the same work.
Will Zapier only handle orders? My client is looking for articles/products sync between WooCommerce and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
Would that be possible in a near future/6 months?
