Yes we need this in INDIA as PAYPAL is the only solution we have right now.

To integrate Indian payment gateways, they need to collect business details and KYC from Indian merchants. Being a plugin provider it’s going to be a hassle for WooCommerce to do that since they are not a fintech company.
Best they can do is collaborate with Razorpay to make this happen. Razorpay also has a plugin for WooCommerce, and Razorpay’s KYC process is very efficient.
Please don’t forget adding support for RuPay Debit and Credit Cards along with UPI payments. This is very very huge in India.
