When you activate “Ask for details in the text field” as soon as a user cancels it is presented with the note field, which is a nice feature.
However there is no visual indicator that a note is required. Also it seems to be required to enter 5 characters but there is no visual indicator at all. Many customers complained that the cancellation survey prevents them from canceling or other ones seems “Rage type” something as they are annoyed.
The UI is not clear what leads to a bad user experience.
What I suggest:
– If note is mandatory add a “*” after the placeholder to make clear that a note is required in order to cancel.
– Add an information that it requires atleast 5 characters (Character counter or similar)
– Make the button more clearly disabled (Lighter grey text)
– As soon as the user entered more than the required number of characters the button should change it’s color to indicate that the button can now be clicked
– As soon as the minimum character count is reached, change the pointer

Sounds good, that would be great!
Generally I think it makes sense if you could simply decide if the note field should be required or not.
Of course I always want to show the note field as it would be great if users leave us more info about the cancellation reason, but some users simply dont want to give more details. If we force them, we only leave a bad last impression when they leave and also the feedback is not more than “Why don’t you just let me cancel??? Don’t force me to enter details?”. (We have received this answer several times)
Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and suggestions! We completely agree that the “Ask for Details” feature could be made more flexible. Currently, it is a required field with a consistent minimum character count, but we recognize the need for clearer visual indicators. We’re already planning to address this in the next plugin release to improve the user experience.
Regarding button styling, the plugin relies on your theme’s default styles to ensure consistency across your site. We intentionally avoid overriding these styles because we don’t want users to need a separate plugin setting for every button. This means the appearance of the disabled button, including its color, is determined by your theme. If you’d like to adjust the styling, you can do so directly in your theme settings, which will apply to all buttons on your site for a cohesive look.
