At the moment the default is to ‘pay upfront’, it used to be ‘pay on release’ – a way to choose a global default would be better please 🙂

That’s a reasonable ask — having to change the payment timing per-product instead of setting it once globally adds unnecessary repetitive work.
Smart Pre-Order Manager for WooCommerce lets you set a global default for whether pre-orders are charged upfront or on release, so you’re not stuck manually switching it per product.
