It would be really helpful to have an option to take a non-refundable deposit for a preorder, which could be an absolute value (e.g. £5 per preorder), or a percentage of the overall value.

That flexibility matters — a fixed £5 deposit makes sense for lower-value items, while a percentage scales better for expensive ones, so having both options covers most use cases.
Smart Pre-Order Manager for WooCommerce supports taking a deposit on pre-orders, configurable as either a flat amount or a percentage of the total.
