We don’t plan to do this every week but thought it would be nice to roundup what’s happened in the seven days since we launched Storefront, our free WooCommerce theme. Overall reception has been really positive, in the comments on WooThemes.com, the reviews on WordPress.org and in the larger community.
We’ve racked up almost 10,000 downloads and 13 five star reviews (yeah ok, some of them were us) and Storefront has been mentioned on:
As of today we were just 300 downloads away from being featured in the ‘Popular Themes’ list on wordpress.org/themes. For now we’ll have to make do with being at the top of page 2. Not bad after one week!
The Nitty Gritty
There have only been six support requests on WordPress.org and very few bugs reported on GitHub. We’re pleased to have released a stable product and look forward to building on that. Sales of the extensions have also been really positive.
Since launch we’ve deployed one feature release which adds support for several customer facing WooCommerce extensions. Version 1.2.0 is due next week and will have a similar focus. Take a look at the changelog to see what we’ve been doing and what is planned for the next release.
Extension ideas
If anyone has any extension ideas, or indeed any general ideas on how we can improve Storefront, please share them on the newly created Ideasboard. We’d really value your input!
Upcoming extensions
In addition to the three we launched with, we hope to have another three ready to go early next year so stay tuned! Storefront has got off on the right foot and we can’t wait for the next step. Let us know any thoughts in the comments, we’d love to hear from you.
About
Hi James,
Well done on the 10,000 downloads – Storefront is fab 🙂
We’ve just put together a video overview / tutorial here http://www.pootlepress.com/2014/11/woothemes-storefront-video-tutorial-walkthrough/ which hopefully some users will find useful.
Jamie
Yeah congrats to all you ninjas! I’m looking forward to Storefront becoming my default WooCommerce theme.
I’m assuming there will be a range of child themes to follow? 😉
I know there is no ideas being banged out on the ideasboard but I would point out the existing ideas that have not seen much love in sometime now. I personally would love to see some of the existing ideas going ahead on extensions for woocommerce that really need it.
Great stuff! keep up the good work.
