Stripe for WooCommerce 10.8.0 turns on two conversion features for all eligible stores and tightens up refunds, Klarna, and bank statement descriptors across the board.
- Optimized Checkout Suite: Stripe for WooCommerce 10.8.0 enables the Optimized Checkout Suite (OCS) by default for all eligible merchants. OCS consolidates Stripe’s payment methods into a single checkout experience with fewer page reloads and orders the methods by what’s most likely to convert for each shopper.
- Adaptive Pricing: This release also enables Adaptive Pricing for eligible stores. Shoppers across 150+ countries now see prices in their local currency at real-time exchange rates. Enable local payment methods so shoppers can pay the way they prefer, for a checkout that feels local from price to payment. You get paid and process refunds in your settlement currency. Shoppers see a 2-4% conversion fee included in their total and get refunded their original purchase amount.
If OCS or Adaptive Pricing was enabled for your store, you’ll see a clear notice in WP Admin telling you what changed. You can turn either feature off at any time from Payments > Stripe > Settings
Also in this release:
- More reliable refunds. This release fixes several cases where orders could become hard to refund. Stripe now stores each order’s transaction ID when charges come through, recovers a missing Stripe charge ID from the order’s payment intent so affected orders stay refundable, and restores the Refund via Gateway button and Stripe dashboard link for Amazon Pay orders.
- Smoother Klarna checkout across borders. The Optimized Checkout flow now sends Klarna the shopper’s preferred locale, so cross-border customers can complete the identity verification Klarna requires to finish paying.
- Correct bank statement descriptors on more payment methods. Payments made with alternative payment methods now include your bank statement descriptor. The charge your customers see on their statement matches your store, which means fewer “I don’t recognize this” disputes.
- This release also lets shoppers change a subscription’s payment method using Express Checkout (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link), shows Apple Pay and Google Pay branding on saved cards in My Account and at checkout, and adds a Release notes link to the Stripe row on your Plugins page.Â
