The Woo Affiliates Widget

Escrito por Mark Forrester on dezembro 6, 2011 News, Product News.

The WooAffiliates widget options.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been brainstorming ways of helping our affiliates advertise our themes in an efficient, professional manner. Previously, you’ve been limited to advertising banners and text links that you can manually place anywhere in blog posts, text/adsense widgets, sidebars and footers. Today we launch the “WooAffiliates” plugin that takes this a step further.

Available from the WordPress plugin repository you can now download and activate this light plugin that then enables a “WooAffiliates” widget. This widget comes with numerous simple display controls and a place to add your WooThemes username that automagically recognizes you as a WooThemes affiliate. Place this widget in a widgetized region and voila, you can proudly market WooThemes and start making money from sales referred from your site.

With version 1 of the plugin you can display a specific theme, the most popular in the past 30 days, a random theme, or the latest theme. Place this widget more than once if you like to highlight different themes in different areas of your site.

The code wranglers Matty and Warren have loads of plans to make this plugin/widget even more powerful and useful as a sales tool for you, all the while giving you complete control as to what and how you want to display it – subtly or more prominently.

To track sales made you just need to login to your WooThemes dashboard and navigate to the affiliates page. Find out more about our affiliate program here.

That is an interesting widget. Cool work you guys.

But some thoughts. Is the widget responsive so it will adapt to any width in the sidebar? Or does it need a specific width in the sidebar or other place to work properly?

I´m satisfied with the “When there´s a Woo there´s a way” banner that I currently use as I wanted to try and have smaller ads in the sidebar this time around. But for a future project I might consider using this as it looks great in action.

If your sidebar bits are coded as responsive, works just fine.

At least it does so on my personal site. 🙂 – http://cl.ly/420v1g441x3B3D46093R

That is all I need to know. But I don´t have enough current Ad space :p

And since I´m using a WooTheme it should work right 🙂

Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in /home/username/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wooaffiliates/classes/affiliates.class.php on line 380

Posted in “General” section of Support as I did not see a specific area for WooAffiliates plug in post.

      Sorry about that Gerry!

I assume your all up to date on your site too? Current version of WordPress, etc..

        Was current version of WP.

My theme and framework were out of date, so I updated those, but still the same issue.

I left it active on my site in case someone in support wanted to check it out.

This is another great widget to add on my WordPress blog. I hope it will work for me after I have downloaded it. I’ll let you know for sure.

I’ll download this WooAffiliate widget to install on my blog. May I know if this is only on WordPress or may I also put it on Blogger?

      Hi Robert.

      The plugin is WordPress-specific.

The Affiliate program, however, is not. 🙂 You can place your Affiliate links in a Blogger website as well. 🙂

I’ve used this widget for a month or so now. However I haven’t noticed any new themes pop up inside the widget (seems to display the same ole, same ole theme each day. Do I need to turn something on so that new themes appear in this widget?

Marcus – Check the widget settings. If you have selected Latest or Random for the “Display,” it should be changing. If you select Specific Product, it won’t change. And well, Most Popular might not change too often either (but I am not sure about that.)

Also, if you are using a Cache plugin I am not sure how the widget handles that.

For the site your name is linked to, I am seeing the latest theme (at this time Shelflife,) but I also see an error from your WP Super Cache install. (View source, scroll to end of page.)

“WP Super Cache is installed but broken. The path to wp-cache-phase1.php in wp-content/advanced-cache.php must be fixed!”

Thank you very much Gerry. I’ll check my settings and cache! Happy New 2012!
