WooCommerce Product Add-Ons 8.4.1 through 8.4.4: global add-on fixes, more accurate cart pricing, and security updates

These releases fix a bug that could reset your global add-ons, correct how add-on prices and selections carry through the cart, and clean up several storefront and order-editing issues.

On some stores, global add-ons were converted to a newer format a second time, which reset their price types and titles. This happened when the stored plugin version was missing. In 8.4.4, global add-ons that are already in the current format are left alone, so the settings you saved stay in place.

Add-on prices now carry through the cart more reliably. Options whose labels look the same after formatting no longer pick up each other’s prices, and options labeled “0” now show their price in the cart. Duplicate add-on charges are gone, zero-priced radio choices are kept when a customer edits a cart item, and date add-ons keep their price once a date is accepted. Required add-ons are now enforced in block-based carts, including required global add-ons on variable products, and customers can no longer enter a negative amount in a customer-defined price field.

Selections and orders behave as expected. Checkbox options whose names differ only by special characters now select correctly, and radio add-ons accept one choice. If you rename an add-on after an order is placed, editing that order no longer shows both the old and the new selection. Text that customers enter in add-on fields stays plain text in orders and emails.

On the storefront, add-on dropdowns now match the height of other form fields in block themes, and a JavaScript error with Quick View on variable products is fixed. Customers can now upload files on subscription products when Mixed Checkout is turned off. Importing add-ons keeps their order and file type restrictions, and if automatic copy isn’t available when you export add-ons, a field appears so you can copy them by hand.

8.4.1 through 8.4.3 also include security fixes.

How to get it

Update to WooCommerce Product Add-Ons 8.4.4 from your WooCommerce dashboard: Plugins > Installed Plugins, or WooCommerce > Extensions. The fixes apply automatically. 8.4.4 requires WordPress 7.0 or later and WooCommerce 11.1 or later, so update those first. If you noticed global add-ons with reset price types or titles, check them after updating and re-enter anything that changed.
