Some app stores are now required to share a customer’s age range with the apps they install. The WooCommerce mobile app uses that information to confirm you meet the minimum age in our Terms of Service.
Most people will never see any of this. The app only receives an age range where Apple or Google provide one, which today is limited to certain regions and to newer App Store and Google Play accounts. If no age information is shared, the app carries on as normal and you will not be prompted.
This page explains the requirement, the screens you may see, and how to resolve them.
The minimum age
↑ Back to topYou must be at least 13 years old to use the WooCommerce mobile app. This comes from our Terms of Service, under Minimum Age Requirements, and applies to the app on both iOS and Android.
Where the age information comes from
↑ Back to topThe app does not ask for your birthday and never receives it. It asks your app store whether you are above the minimum age, and receives only a broad answer.
- iOS uses Apple’s Age Range for Apps. Your Apple Account birthday determines the range.
- Android uses age range sharing on Google Play. Your Google Account determines the range, shared as a band such as 13–15, 16–17 or 18+.
Neither platform shares your exact age or date of birth with us.
Screens you may see, and what each one means
↑ Back to top“Verify your age to continue” (Android)
↑ Back to topGoogle Play needs you to verify your age before WooCommerce can check whether you can use the app. Complete verification in Google Play, then return here and try again.
Google has not yet established an age for your account. This does not mean anything is wrong with your account, and it does not mean you have been found to be underage. You stay signed in and your store stays selected — the app is just paused until Google can answer.
Two buttons are shown: Open Google Play and Retry. Follow Fix age sharing on Android below, then tap Retry.
“Account Access Restricted” (Android)
↑ Back to topYour Google Account indicates that you are under 13 years old, which is below the minimum age allowed to use the WooCommerce platform under its terms of service.
Google has reported an age below 13 for the Google Account signed in on the device. The app signs you out and cannot be used until this is resolved.
You may instead see a message about needing a parent or guardian’s permission. If you are an adult and see either message, follow If you are over 13 and still blocked below.
“Access Restricted” (iOS)
↑ Back to topYour Apple account age is below the minimum required for this app (13+).
Apple has reported an age below 13 for the Apple Account signed in on the device. The app signs you out.
Fix age sharing on Android
↑ Back to topYour age-sharing choice applies to your Google Account across every device you are signed in to.

If you are over 13 and still blocked
↑ Back to topThe age comes from your app store account, so that is where a wrong answer has to be corrected. Work through these in order:
- Check which account is signed in on the device. A shared or family device may be signed in to a different Apple Account or Google Account than you expect. The app reads the age of the account signed in to the store, not the WordPress.com or store account you log in to WooCommerce with.
- Check the birthday on that account. Correct it with Apple or Google if it is wrong, then reopen the app.
- Turn age sharing on, using the steps above for your platform.
- Android only — update Google Play. Make sure the Google Play Store and Google Play services are up to date and the device is online. If the app cannot reach Google Play at all, it cannot confirm your age, and an existing restriction cannot lift.
- Reopen the app. The app rechecks each time it starts, and on Android you can also tap Retry. Once your store confirms you are over the minimum age, the restriction clears on its own. You do not need to reinstall the app.
- Still blocked? Age verification on different platforms might require more steps, like ID verification (for example, access age-restricted content & features). So if you’re still blocked, contact Apple Support or Google Play Support. Only they can change the age on your store account.
What this does not affect
↑ Back to topBeing blocked in the app is a restriction on using the app on that device. It does not change anything about your business:
- Your store, orders, products and customers are untouched, and your site keeps running normally.
- Your customers are not affected and can shop as usual.
- Your WooCommerce.com and WordPress.com accounts are unaffected.
- You can still manage your store by signing in to its dashboard in a web browser.
Contact us
↑ Back to topYou do not need the app to contact us — get in touch through woocommerce.com from any web browser.
If the screen you are on does show a Contact Support option, use that one instead. It attaches your app logs to the conversation, which helps us find the cause faster.
Either way, please tell us:
- whether you are on iPhone/iPad or Android,
- the exact wording on the screen you are seeing,
- which Apple Account or Google Account is signed in on the device, and
- what you have already tried from this page.
