Add a Template Bookable Product

Create a bookable product from one of WooCommerce Bookings’ six templates, then adjust its settings before publishing it. Templates provide example durations, availability, and prices for services or rentals; they aren’t ready-made settings for your business.

Before you begin, activate WooCommerce and WooCommerce Bookings and use an account with permission to edit products. Have your appointment length, opening hours, prices, and capacity ready.

Create a product from a template

1. Go to Bookings > Add Product.
2. Select a template card to open its details. Review the scenario and booking features. Use the left and right arrows to compare templates, or close the details to return to the cards.
3. Select Use template once. Wait for the product editor to open.
4. Confirm the new product has Draft status and Bookable product selected in Product data.

Each use creates a separate product. Bookings copies the selected template’s settings and example description. Templates that include resources or person types also create and attach those items; templates without them don’t. Creating the draft doesn’t publish it or create a customer booking.

Choose a starting point

Choose the closest booking model, then check the actual settings in the generated draft. A card’s scenario text or preview image isn’t a substitute for reviewing the saved product.

Tutoring

Uses custom time ranges for appointments. Check General > Booking duration: the template description mentions 30-minute sessions, but the preset creates fixed one-hour bookings. Change the duration if your sessions are shorter.

Tourist Activity

Starts with fixed two-hour tours and adult and child person types. Review the person limits, prices, and maximum bookings per block so capacity matches the way you sell tour places.

Equipment Rental

Uses tables and chairs as resources, with the Persons settings representing rental quantity. Replace the sample names, stock quantities, and rental costs with your own.

Hair Salon

Uses stylists as resources for fixed one-hour appointments. Review the saved weekday and weekend availability, stylist names, and prices rather than relying on the scenario description.

Boat Cruise

Uses cabin resources, person counts, customer-defined durations, and pricing rules. Check cabin quantities, occupancy, and every date-based price adjustment before publishing.

Room Rental

Uses customer-defined day blocks and different weekday and weekend prices. Review the stay limits, capacity, and costs for your rental.

Customize and test the draft

1. Replace the example product name and description with customer-facing information about your service or rental. Review or remove any example images in the description.
2. In Product data > General, check the booking duration and whether the product needs shipping. Select Virtual for a service that doesn’t.
3. Check Availability and Costs. Review every rule, including date-specific rules, and the All dates are… setting. Check store-wide availability as well. Enter the hours, capacity, and prices you intend to offer.
4. If Has persons or Has resources is selected, review the corresponding settings, names, limits, and extra costs. Don’t leave sample people or equipment in a product customers can book.
5. Select Save Draft, then Preview. Select an available date and time, and any person or resource options. Confirm the duration and calculated booking cost match your settings. Test an unavailable date or time as well.
6. Reopen the saved settings and confirm they persisted. When the preview matches your business rules and the description is ready for customers, select Publish.

Get started from scratch

If none of the templates fits, go to Bookings > Add Product and select Start from scratch below the template cards. This opens the product editor for a blank bookable product. Add your details, configure the booking settings, save the draft, and test it before publishing.

If the draft doesn’t appear

• No Add Product menu: confirm WooCommerce Bookings is active and your account can edit products.
• The page doesn’t redirect: use the fallback link in the template details if it appears. Otherwise check Products > All Products > Drafts for the new product before selecting Use template again, to avoid duplicates.
• A refresh or permission error appears: refresh the template page and check that you’re still signed in with product-editing access. Check the Drafts list before trying again.
• The preview’s price or availability is wrong: review the actual saved duration, all cost and availability rules, and any resource or person settings. Leave the product as a draft until the result matches your requirements.
